Speaking post-match about the game against Everton, Benteke - like teammate Max Meyer - felt that the south Londoners should've taken all three points but was full of praise for the Eagles' performance: "I think the first half they had a couple of great chances but we came back into the game in the second half; we were playing a little bit higher and we at least deserved a goal.
"We played against a great side, a top six side. If we look at our second half we have to bring that next weekend away [from home] and we have to keep going, as we were sharper and stronger in the second half."
Discussing his own performance, the Beligum international was positive and looking forward to the season ahead: "I feel really good, especially in the second half as you have to get used to the Premier League tempo again and the second half was intense. I feel good and now I just want to score and keep going."
Benteke closed out his post-match interview with a few words on teammate, Wilfried Zaha, with the Ivorian starting on the bench this afternoon after a late return from the Africa Cup of Nations: "I know how big he has been for this team and this club. I think that this chapter of his transfer is behind him; he is a professional, he didn’t argue at all, he showed what he can do and hopefully he is now going to be back to his best."
