Dann looked back on the game, which he played the entirety of, something that will come as a pleasing sign for the 31-year-old captain.
He said, "It was really tough. Credit to Grimsby, especially after going a man down in the first minute. They played really well and dug in. Fortunately for us, we managed to get that important goal just before the end of the game which we probably feel we deserved, we had a lot of shots but they made it hard for us to break them down."
Having only recently begun to be available as an option for the first-team, to see Dann playing in red and blue again at Selhurst Park will be a welcome sign to many Eagles fans.
Looking back on how the return felt, he explained, "[Playing at Selhurst was] brilliant, obviously it's been just over 12 months now since I've played at Selhurst. It's been a long time coming, I'm just thankful I'm back and able to play. I've missed it a lot.
"With me not playing for a while, it was nice for me to go in and play with faces who I've played with a lot of times before."
But it wasn't just in defence where Dann stood out, and both he and fellow centre-back Martin Kelly caught many an eye with their brave, rarely seen attempts at goal.
"They were dropping deep," he said, "and defending really well. A couple of times, Kells [Kelly] stepped in and nearly scored a couple from long range. For me, it just sat up nicely and I thought I'll have a strike, though it wasn't quite inside the post. But, like I say, they made it really tough for us. I'm thankful we got that all imprortant goal at the end."
