The Scotsman bagged his third league goal when he turned home from close range Scott Dann's header which looked set to be dealt with. Suggesting that while he may have wanted to have notched up a few more successful efforts, McArthur also expressed his satisfaction with scoring and pride with the team performance overall at a tough ground to visit.
Looking back on his goal, he said: "Dannsy's done great for it. Some might feel that I've not done as well as I should have this year with the goals and thankfully I got one today."
Turning his attention to the rest of the squad, McArthur elaborated further: "It's a very, very hard place to come to and what a performance.
"We've always found it hard here. Last year we came into the game and thought that we had a very good chance and they put us away in 15-20 minutes. Today we knew that the start was very, very important and we got a good start that stood us in good stead for the full match.
"We have been very good away from home with some amazing results and that's definitely up there this year."
But two Palace men stood out in particular and have received praise from Roy Hodgson, teammates and all who watched the tense clash in north London, and McArthur too found time to compliment the efforts of fellow goalscorers Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha, saying: "It's brilliant. Not only on the ball but off the ball they were tremendous today. They made it so hard for them [Arsenal] and it gave us a great shape all the way through the team to counter with."
