The match was Palace's first home win of the season, and Hodgson emphasised how pleasing it was to see his side pick up three points in front of a packed Selhurst Park crowd.
"The three points pleased me most," he said, "because I’ve been pleased with so many of our performances after games. Sometimes we’ve been praising players about their performance but not been able to get the satisfaction of having taken points from the game. So there’s no doubt that the major satisfaction was that we won."
The convincing performance from his team boosted an already vocal home support, and it was clear that the win was enjoyed by all.
Hodgson took some time in his pre-Brighton press conference to praise those who were watching from the stands.
He said, "I thought the atmosphere at the ground, which is always good, was exceptionally good at the weekend. But that’s also allied to the way we play.
"I think the quality of the play and the excitement, the fact that we created so many goal chances and played so positively from first to last, obviously gives the crowd something to cheer about and get behind."
On the back of the win, Palace will now travel south to Brighton and Hove Albion for the much-anticipated M23 derby on Tuesday at 19.45. You can listen to it live for just £1.49 with Palace Audio.
