The goal was Schlupp's second against the Cottagers this season, having bagged Palace's opener in a win at Craven Cottage by the same scoreline in August.
Looking at both his successful effort and the team's victory, Schlupp expressed his satisfaction with both and went some way to explaining how Palace ensured they earned the three points.
He said, "On a personal note, it's nice to get the goal but it was a really important game today and Fulham came with a gameplan - they played quite well and passed the ball around. We stopped them having many chances and the second goal killed the game off.
"They were passing it around but we work on our shape weekly in training and you can see the rewards we're getting: it's another clean sheet. I'm not sure if they actually had many chances and we managed to get two goals to win the game."
The victory was the Eagles' seventh of the season, with many arguing that Hodgson's men deserved to have secured more over recent months.
Having played well and come close on many occasions to taking more from matches than they ultimately did, Schlupp explained that Palace know their talent and are focussed on winning more to reach further up the league table.
"Without getting carried away," he said, "we've got a lot of top players and we found ourselves in a position in the league where we don't feel we should be. But you know how the Premier League is, you never know what's going to happen. We've just got to stick to our task: win some more games and score some more goals. We can then start looking up to the other half of the table."
Making his debut, Michy Batshuayi impressed at Selhurst Park for the brief spell that he featured. It was Batshuayi who assisted Schlupp's goal and the former Leicester man was full of praise for his new Belgian teammate.
He said, "He's a lively one but everyone knows about his talent. He's played for big clubs and I'm sure he'll come in and gel really quickly with the boys. Obviously, he'll show his quality like he did today."
