There were a number of excellent displays from the men in red and blue with Connor Wickham getting on the scoresheet for the first time in over two years and Andros Townsend continuing his good form in front of goal with the all-important spot-kick.
At the other end, Julian Speroni made some important saves to keep his 112th clean sheet for the Eagles and break the all-time club record in the process, while his defence remained firm and prevented their opponents from threatening too often.
