It was announced on Monday that the vastly experienced manager would take charge of the Eagles for the forthcoming Premier League campaign, having guided his boyhood club to safety on five separate occasions.
And the manager – along with Paddy McCarthy as assistant manager, Ray Lewington as coach and Dean Kiely as goalkeeper coach – got straight down to business with Palace’s first training session on the grass of the new campaign.
