After riding out waves of pressure for much of both halves, clinical finishing from Eze, Ismaïla Sarr and Eddie Nketiah – plus some heroic saves from Dean Henderson and defensive work from the players around him, who recorded a magnificent seventh consecutive away clean sheet – saw Palace reach a second semi-final in the space of four seasons.
It was Eze who was central to the two game-changing moments in the first-half, however, as his sensational solo effort from Tyrick Mitchell's lay-off – plus a dazzling run and cross onto the head of Sarr moments later – put his side two goals ahead and changed the entire complexion of the tie.
"It was an important goal," Eze said after the game. "I'm happy to help the team and that's what I’m in the team to do. We didn't start the best, it was difficult, and there was a lot of defending, but eventually we broke them down.
"That’s where I want to get the ball, in the pockets, and one versus one against players and creating space, and thank God it went in today. Sometimes in a game you have a lot of time without the ball and you have to take your chances when you do get them, and we put in a good performance.
"We're confident in ourselves and we know what we can do, we know what we are capable of. It's games like today where you show the mentality, where you show the resilience to keep pushing, which will get you further in the tournament."
Eze's performance earned him 54.5% of your votes, with Chris Richards also catching the eye and earning 26.8% of the poll.
