Olise announced his arrival to the Premier League the last time these two met in south London, scoring a goal on his debut as Palace came from two down to earn a much-deserved point; they came close to completing a remarkable comeback and finding a winner.
The Eagles were less fortunate on their visit to the King Power, with Wilfried Zaha’s goal not enough to secure another comeback after finding themselves two down for a second time.
Victory against Leeds United was exactly what Patrick Vieira’s side needed after they were denied by both Brentford and Chelsea late on at Selhurst Park this season.
“We just needed a win because when you look at our performances lately we were quite good,” the manager said after the game. “The only thing we were missing was a win. Today we didn’t play as well as we did before but we managed to win the game.
“So it’s important for us to find the right balance. When we didn’t win we didn’t throw away everything we’ve been doing in the last couple of months. We won today but are still going to try to improve as a team.”
Ebere Eze’s first goal in front of a packed Selhurst Park proved the difference between the two sides, after a wonderful flick from Wilfried Zaha – but just as pleasing was a second goal in as many games from Odsonne Edouard.
Just as he did against Chelsea, the Frenchman was in the right place at the right time to get on the end of an inch-perfect delivery and slot home.
Now the Eagles are in pursuit of their first league victory on the road this season at the King Power stadium.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled so far this season and sit bottom of the league table with just one win in their opening nine games – although it came at the King Power in an impressive performance against Nottingham Forest.
The have lost seven of their eight league matches since the opening day, and will be desperate to get some points on the board before the World Cup break and avoid being sucked into a relegation battle.
As he did against Chelsea, Patrick Vieira experimented with Olise alongside Ebere Eze in midfield against Leeds – and to great effect, as the latter scored the decisive goal.
But with Ayew also excelling in the No.8 role despite starting on the right-hand side, Vieira has the tactical flexibility from both men to interchange as the game progresses.
Palace were boosted by Joachim Andersen's return at the back against Leeds, whose ball-playing prowess is a crucial part of the side’s build-up play – not to mention his established defensive partnership with Marc Guéhi.
Leicester’s biggest dangerman is the in-form James Maddison, who despite his team’s struggles has continued to impress – most recently with a brace against Nottingham Forest that included a long-range free-kick.
