Wayne Hennessey felt the decision was one which was a real turning point in a contest which also saw the Palace finish the game with ten men.
“I actually thought we played very well but the decision just before half time destroyed us, I haven’t seen it again but a few of the lads are saying there wasn’t enough contact for him to go down or for a penalty so we feel very hard done by,” reflected Hennessey who also felt Aaron Wan-Bissaka was unlucky to be dismissed with 15 minutes remaining after he brought down Mohamed Salah when the striker was through on goal.
“I actually thought Aaron got a little touch on it but I haven’t seen it again but I will sit down and have a good look at it. It’s so disappointing for him because he has been fantastic for us and he will be a big miss,” said Hennessey in a game which he believes Roy Hodgson’s men can take plenty from.
“Like I say I thought we played really well and crucial decisions cost us but we gave a great performance and had chances, we hit the bar with a fantastic shot from Andros and on another day that goes in."
