After a goalless first half Gylfi Sigurdsson fired home, courtesy of a deflection, within a minute and Oumar Niasse got on the end of a Cuco Martina cross to extend the home advantage.
Milivojevic was disappointed that the side couldn’t get back into the game as the visitors responded to a disappointing start to the second period of the contest.
“In the last few games in the second half we have had the better half but today in the first five minutes we have conceded two very poor goals. After that it was hard to come back in the game but we had one good chance from Christian and if he scores, 2-1, and that happened before 60 minutes, maybe we could change the game but after that it was very hard to come back”.
The trip to Merseyside saw a Palace debut for Alexander Sørloth and Milivojevic believes that the striker can be pleased with his first match in Palace colours.
“In my opinion he had a good game, first half especially. He adapted well and we are going to try to help him to adapt as soon as possible and for sure I hope he will be a big part of the team.”
With FA Cup weekend coming up next the Palace squad now have a break before their next match against Tottenham on Monday February 26th at Selhurst Park.
The Serbian international believes it has come at a good time so that the recovery time may benefit those players currently out on the injured list.
“It will be hard for game for sure because they are a top team but we now have 16 days to prepare for that. A long time until that game, we are going to refresh ourselves and we have a lot of injuries but we are maybe going take some players back from injury and will be ready for that game.”
