After intially impressing on trial towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign, Seán Grehan made his move to south London permanent in the summer of 2022.
The Dublin-born centre-back put pen to paper on a two-year deal and slotted in well to Paddy McCarthy's Under-21s side at the start of the 22/23 season, starting nearly every game.
Grehan was called up to represent the Republic of Ireland Under-19s side in September 2022 and managed to keep three clean sheets and score a goal in the three games he featured in. In February 2023, the defender scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 victory over Sporting Braga in the Premier League International Cup.
He made 36 appearances in all competitions in his first season in south London, with his only goal coming against Braga.
The centre-back was named on the first-team bench for the first time in his Palace career in the side's 2-4 win away at Plymouth Argyle in the second round of the Carabao Cup in August 2023.
Grehan has captained the U21s on occasion in 2023/24, owing to the absence of regular skipper Jack Wells-Morrison. He scored his first goal of 23/24 in September, heading home against Middlesbrough in the Premier League Cup.
He signed a new contract in December 2023, after a strong start to the 23/24 campaign, and then moved to League One side Carlisle United on loan. He returned to the club following three appearances at Carlisle in April 2024.
The centre-back finished 23/24 with 19 appearances in total for the U21s, with two goals and one assist to his name.
In 2024/25, Grehan overcame an injury which kept him out for the opening month of the campaign. He returned to action against Real Sociedad in the Premier League International Cup in September, before notching two assists against the first-team side of Gillingham in the EFL Trophy. He scored his first goal in 24/25 against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2024.
